If you’re looking for a pillow with extra support, the ideal pillow should provide plenty of neck support. If you have neck pain, then chances are you’re not getting enough support. This pillow should also be soft. If you’re using a cotton filled pillow, keep an eye on how its firmness decreases. Over time, as the pillow is less filled your neck will lose support and can lead to pain and headaches.

The way you position your pillow is another crucial factor in avoiding pain. As you lay on your back, always make sure your neck has support. If your neck is pointing forward towards your chest, then you’re getting too much support. If you sleep on your side, always keep your pillow in a position that keeps your head in line with your neck.

Another claim many experts have made is sleeping with a pillow under your arm. This should be a soft pillow to provide a bit of support for your arms. The best option for this is a feather pillow.

Everyone likes a different type of pillow, but always make sure you’re getting enough support. If you’re getting plenty of sleep and don’t have neck pains, then stick with what you have! If not, then consider making a change and expect a few days before you get used to a new pillow.
