Using blown air or space heaters might not be the best way of heating. Average joe will buy these kind of heaters, simply because they are the heater everybody knows about. What they might not know is that there is another kind of heater which can work better in some cases.

Everyone knows about electric radiant heaters. We’ve all seen the little chinese halogen heaters for sale! Fuel fired ones are not so well known about.

Heating a small part of a large area with an infra red heater is far more efficient thatn using the blown air variety. The trouble with traditional space heaters – is you lose most of the heat to the air rather than what you are trying to heat.

Infra red heaters heat what you point them at. You lose a little to the air – but most of the heat goes into what you are trying to heat. So pointing your IR heater at a team of men in a warehouse is going to be a lot more efficient than using any kind of blown air heater.

You can get a gas radiant heater that looks a bit like a giant radiator. They can be tricky to maintain and there is always the severe winter problem of propane cyinder shortages to contend with.

Of course – another option is the infra red diesel heater. These heaters can’t be used in enclosed spaces or where there are flammables around – but that tends to be just the kind of place you want to use them.

So before you buy a space heater for the warehouse, think differently, think infra red.
